Going thru seeds today and getting my sow on soon. A little bed rotation; I’ll be using the beds right next to the house for herbs this year and the old herb bed for tomatoes, peppers in the tomato bed from 2 years ago. I think a big overflowing herb garden right near the walkways will smell nice and look nice, plus be readily accessible to the kitchen. Sunflowers back in the NW-SE stockade fence line. The shaded NE-SW fence in the side yard has been tilled, but I’m not sure what I can put in there because of the almost total lack of Sun. Perhaps, some cemetery roses or berries found in the shade? I might try my hand at some cuttings this year. Then there’s the back fence line, thats been tilled and waiting. Corn? Maybe some pumpkins? Beans? They need to go in now I think.
I had found a bunch of pots in the garbage that I’m going to fill and just place around the walkways and pool/pond. Speaking of the pond, it’s another area that will get some plants. I have some ivy growing on one of the fences, I was thinking of transplanting some of that closer to the pond, hanging over the edge. Some lillys will also go in and whatever else I can put in to make some habitat for the koi and other goldfish.
I made a screen to classify the compost, since I didn’t shred the leaves I’m sure it’ll be chunky. It’ll be the first time I get to use some and I’m excited about it. Plus, reworking the compost bin into 2 sections to make it more efficient, so I can work less and get more goodness. There’s a cement pad right there too that a shed would look nice on. With an attached potters bench and the roof rain water going into a rain barrel.
Yes, I’m excited to get started this year. Last year my starts all stopped, haha, and all I had was the oregano that came back up. Oh, and the mint, of course came up. Well, I’m off to dig out the seeds and play God.
